INTRODUCTORY NOTE
The enclosed 3D walkthrough is a presentation of a hypothetical show, proffered mainly for curators so as to be able to envision clearly a possible Locos show as part of their museum programming. The intent is a traveling museum tour. The space depicted is 50’x 60’, 3,000 square feet or 279 square meters. It depicts wall heights of approximately 10’ or 3 meters and depicts center panels at 15’ in length or 5 meters. Additionally, a film room is speculated at approximately 400 square feet or 45 square meters.
The space is hypothetical, not fixed. The size is chosen as a minimum amount for such a show but is flexible, moldable to suit any spatial configuration as long as it is a minimum of 3,000 square feet or 279 square meters total.
RENAISSANCE & REBELLION
With the launch of California Locos Renaissance & Rebellion, the 432-page compendium on the group, authored by Dave Tourjé and published by Italian publishing house Drago Publishers, the Locos now look to the future and a much-anticipated museum tour launching 2024 throughout Europe. The “Renaissance & Rebellion” tour will present new exhibits featuring some of the California Locos’ most iconic artwork as well as newer works representing the Locos’ relentless and lifelong pursuit of “The Now” in their creative manifestations, which have now brought them international acclaim.
CALIFORNIA LOCOS
The Locos form a multicultural Los Angeles art collective, founded in 2011, with its original core comprised of acclaimed LA artists Chaz Bojórquez, John Van Hamersveld, Norton Wisdom, Gary Wong and founder Dave Tourjé. The Locos have also shown or affiliated with the likes of Shepard Fairey, RISK, OG Slick, RETNA, Robert Williams and others. As innovators of contemporary and counterculture art in Southern California over the last half-century, their works synthesize high and low art standards that often blur the boundaries between fine art, street and life, while defining what it truly means to be a West Coast artist in the 21st century.
